Dustin upgrades his RocketBallz

Dustin Johnson may have been nursing the flu with new girlfriend Paulina Gretzky but that did not prevent him from stopping by the TaylorMade Tour truck at the Humana Challenge last week to pick up some new fairway woods.

The seven-time PGA Tour champion, who used TaylorMade R1 Fairway Wood and R9 (19-degree) fairways en route to victory at the season opener in Hawaii, has been built three new TaylorMade RBZ Stage 2 Fairway Wood with Aldila RIP 90 Alphia X shafts to accompany his new TaylorMade R1 Driver.

Johnson has been testing the RBZ Stage 2 fairways in 14.5-degree, 16.5-degree with high loft and 18.5-degree ahead of this week's Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. He will also use the Lethal golf ball for the first time.

New TaylorMade staff players Stewart Cink and Lucas Glover have also added the RBZ Stage 2 fairways to their bags this week. Cink has opted for the 14.5-degree 3-wood with a Mitsubishi Diamana X shaft, while Glover has bagged the 14.5-degree 3-wood with a Aldila RIP X shaft.

Elsewhere, Phil Mickelson switched to the scotty cameron newport 1.5 en route to a tie for 37th at the Humana Challenge.

After working with the putter during the off-season, Mickelson noted that everything seemed to click with the putter when he started using it at night on the green in his backyard.

“It's the same model that I have, but it's got white, black contrast as opposed to lines,” said the four-time major champion. “I didn't think much of it until I was putting at night and I just started making everything in my yard.
