Ping G25 irons Compare to G20 irons

When Ping first created the G-series irons, the intention was to create the most forgiving iron that Ping has created. With it's sixth version of the G-series, Ping have revamped their design of the Ping G25 Irons to make them more aesthetically pleasing for a wider range of golfers, whilst still maintain G-level forgiveness.

Ping's engineers have made upgrades on materials, finish, thickness, density, weight and even the adhesive used to secure the cavity badge in the back of clubhead.

The idea behind the G25 iron was to create a forgiving, playable iron without the bulky, oversized look that may turn some players off. The new design has a thinner, more progressive sole width, thinner topline and moderate offset (roughly 12% less than the cheapest ping g20 irons).

With the narrower sole design, and trailing edge grind, the G25 are actually closer in size to the Ping i20 Irons and Anser irons, than the previous G-series Ping G20 Irons. Says PING chairman John Solheim: “We’ve engineered a putter insert with forgiveness. Regardless of where the ball impacts the insert, the variable-depth grooves produce nearly identical ball speeds. The distance control is the best we’ve ever seen when compared to inserts of all types.”

The Custom Tuning Port (CTP) has been positioned lower on the face, better aligning with the impact line (i.e. the line perpendicular to the loft of an iron). Combine the new CTP with the support bars in the cavity, and the result is a clubhead that won't rotate as much during impact, meaning more energy transferred and more speed.

The new dark, non-glare matt finish has been added to further enhance the look of the G25 iron, whilst also eliminating reflections and help players focus at address.

The G25 irons feature thinner progressive soles and a thinner topline . The irons also play with less offset than the past G20 and G15 sets . There has been some good improvements as the top line and sole are thinner than the G20 irons which had got a little bloated .
